We have all heard the old adage ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ and we all know the penis is a pretty good route too! Combine the two and you are on to a winner. And the good news is you do not have to be Nigella Lawson to make food exciting. Food and sex are two of life’s great pleasures it only makes sense that putting the two together can make for a wonderful night. Whether it be enjoying a romantic dinner together or incorporating foodplay into your foreplay, food should be a sensual part of any couple’s sex life. If you have never indulged in a bit of foodplay, here are a few tips to get you started… Eating to feel sexy What we put into our bodies can have a dramatic effect on our sex lives. A nutritious and healthy diet can increase libido and improve sexual function whereas an overload of fatty processed foods that are high in sugar and salt can make you feel sluggish, bloated and anything but sexy. In fact an unhealthy diet can not only impair performance but lower your libido and make it more difficult to achieve orgasm. But do not despair many healthy foods are not only delicious but also wonderfully erotic. Aphrodisiacs Humans have long since recognised foods ability to ignite the senses and induce a heightened state of sexual awareness. The ancient Greeks often indulged in sumptuous fruit platters and elaborate meals as a prelude to sex. Any food though to increase our sexual desire and arousal is labelled an aphrodisiac. The word aphrodisiac is derived from Aphrodite the Greek Goddess of love. 1) Oysters Oysters were originally labelled aphrodisiacs due to their strong resemblance to female genitalia. Oysters are also rich in zinc. Zinc controls progesterone levels, which can help increase libido. 2) Asparagus Phallic in shape the asparagus has long been thought to have aphrodisiac properties. In addition to its suggestive shape, asparagus is also packed with vitamin E. It is thought that vitamin E stimulates the production of our sex hormones. 3) Avocados The Aztecs used the avocado as a sex stimulant and the Aztec name for avocado was ahuacatl, meaning "testicle”. On the avocado tree the fruits often hang low and in pairs! Reminiscent of anything? In Aztec culture avocados were considered so sexually powerful virgins were restricted from contact with them! Avocados are also rich in vitamin E, beta-caratone and magnesium, all thought to improve sexual health. 4) Chocolate Great news ladies… not only does chocolate taste great it can also help your sex life! Chocolate contains a substance called phenylethylamine, or the ‘love chemical’. Phenylethylamine gives us a natural high and a feeling not disimiliar to falling in love. How to incorporate food into your sex life: 1) Surprise him by cooking naked. Just be careful…no frying!! 2) Prepare a delicious dinner of fresh finger foods and put the cutlery away. Feed each other. 3) Make a platter of succulent, dripping juicy fruits…feed each other, lick the juices off each others body, pause during oral sex to feed him a juicy strawberry… the limit is your imagination! 4) Suck on a strong mint whilst or just before giving him oral sex. Start slowly and watch him for signs of discomfort. The sensations can be too much for some people. 5) Lick chocolate off each others most intimate parts. Do’s Don’ts |
Choose foods for their texture, colour, shape and flavour. Think beyond the whipped cream… experiment |
Choose fried foods, or processed foods that are high in sugar and salt Drink too much alcohol – a small glass of champagne can get things fizzing too much and you will kill the mood. Be too serious…foodplay should be just that play. Don’t get too caught up in how things should go. Be careful when inserting food into any orifice. You do not want to leave any stray bits behind or cause irritation on the sensitive skin of the vagina and penis. |
